This course is designed for people who are required to take on the responsibilities of the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) in the event of an incident or emergency. The objective is to provide the knowledge required to ensure the safety, health and well-being of staff and visitors during an emergency situation.

This course has been developed in alignment with PUAWER005B Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation and AS 3745-2010 Planning for emergencies in facilities and AS 3745-2010:AMD:2:2018.

Learning Outcomes: 

  • Explain why an organisation has ECO training and why we prepare for emergencies.
  • Identify types of emergencies in the workplace.
  • Identify members of an Emergency Control Organisation.
  • Explain a standard fire drill procedure.
  • Explain the correct procedure to operate a Fire Extinguisher.

Designed for: Persons appointed to become members of the Emergency Control Organisation, including a Chief Fire Warden, Fire Warden, Communications Officer and First Aid Officer.

Pre-requisites: Anyone who has a sound understanding of the English language can complete this course. This course is in English.

Nominal Duration: 1 hour of asynchronous, self-paced learning. This includes time to undertake forum activities and assessments. As this bundle is self-paced, you can take as little, or as long as you like, within the enrolment period of 365 days. Complete this in your own time and at your own pace with the assistance of course forums, online chat and email.

Depth of Learning: Advanced Beginner, based on the Dreyfus Model of Skills Acquisition.

A hardcopy professional certificate can be printed and mailed to you at an additional cost, which is available upon selection when purchasing the course, or at any time following the course completion by contacting AMLA at info@amlearningacademy.com. Courses which require evidence to be submitted and marked, will be issued following successful completion. 

Our courses are offered as online, virtual or face to face. The course method is indicated on the course information page. Where a course is online, that indicates you have access 24/7 to complete at your own pace, up to the maximum term of the course access, which is stipulated on the course information page and in our terms and conditions at the time of purchase. Some courses recommend undertaking workplace based activities or practical activities in order to achieve learning outcomes. These recommendations will be highlighted on the course information page.

Inspired by a competency-based assessment method, evaluating your ability to interpret and process the information provided in the course. AMLA integrates interactive learning methods throughout the material to support your learning journey. End of course Assessments can be comprised of short answer questions, multiple-choice, case study scenarios and reflective tasks. There are no examinations or due dates for assessment, however, courses are only accessible for 12 months from enrolment.
